Wilderness

Wind teases
Rain tantalizes
Life just beyond our reach.
Stand in the rain and feel it, smell it, taste it.
Let it run onto your skin, saturate your hair,
Penetrate the facade you show the world.
Feel the wind chill you,
Chased soon enough by sunshine
Poured forth from the high altitude blue with an intensity
That seeks to obliterate the cool offered by the clouds-
To roast the earth to desiccate dryness again.
Feel Nature's power,
Stand in awe of her ferocity,
And then even more overwhelmed by her beauty.
Seek her
Submerge yourself in her,
And find in her colors and sensations
Only a reflection of what you bring with you.
For she is not moved.
Find in her folds,
Yourself,
As clearly displayed as you have ever seen it;
An honest depiction
With all your flaws and neediness and longing.
Leave it to the wilderness
To show you your heart.
